I am part of the team. Doing the "generation" page, but I can't find the time to work on it consistently. I will get it done some time before the end of May.

Translating JWFacts to Spanish... Update?
by ILoveTTATT inas you all may know, it is an ongoing project to translate jwfacts to spanish.
given that there are more than 2 spanish-speaking jw's for every one that speaks english, it can be safely said that spanish is the #1 language in the jw world (even though everything is made originally in english).. the spanish-speaking jw's are harder to convince.
i attribute it almost 100% to socioeconomic factors.

Need to find those Km or Wt articles encouraging all to read the old publications!
by stuckinarut2 ini have been dropping comments to a few re some classic old beliefs and teachings etc... and when asked "where did you read that, or how come you are saying such and such?
" i have replied "well, you remember we have often been told to study and research our old 'theocratic history' and 'old gems' of material?....
now though i have been challenged to prove where this has been printed!.

Great quotes.
Makes me almost be convinced that apostates are inside and write this stuff to surreptitiously awaken people.

Could they walk any slower on the ministry(tm)?
by punkofnice ini was out in my car this saturday as i went to visit my friend.. i saw the jws scattered about mooching down the streets.. i arrived home in a different area to where my friend lives.
as i opened my door there was an invitation to the mock the christ ritual.
a group of jws mooched past my house, looked at me rather lethargically and carried on mooching along.. considering they don't know i'm an 'apostate(tm)', they certainly were in no hurry to beg me to come to their mock the christ charade considering that if i don't go jar-hoover will lovingly murder me soon (subject to overlapping(tm) ).. i know we had 'the pioneer walk(tm)' back in the day but puh-leeeeeeeze!

Ann,
Please get me the link to your thread regarding the error on dating this memorial. Today I expect to see the crescent for the first time again. According to my SkyX there's a lag time of 77 minutes between sunset and moonset here in California. That's plenty to be able to see the crescent. in Jerusalem there's (there was) a lag time of 50 minutes. It's close, but enough to see the crescent, at least according to empirical data.
Regarding the "speedy" preaching, I can say the same thing of Spanish speaking JW's living in the U.S. They are so, so slow. So painful to see so many young ones robbed of their personal goals, dreams and their chance at the pursuit of hapiness.

To complement it get the studies of Doug Mason and Carl Olof Jonsson. Search also for information regarding VAT4956. Lots of people have used their astronomy programs to confirm the 37th year of the reign of Nebuchanezzar (568/567BCE)

Maybe you should use your line of argument of the multiple proofs offered by Moses and compare that to the FDS, and offer really lame proofs suchas their claim they are appointed by God according to the Watchtower so and so. ..or they claim to have been chosen between 1914 to 1919 when the iconic Finished Mystery book was written. It may get someone to think, or it may lead you to a JC eventually.

Hello, I am new
by LillyC ini am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

I have not been religious since I was 13. However, I like religious people, well I liked them until I started my research about the history of JW's, the history of the Bible and the history of christianity.
After two years of research I still like the humble and innocent people who put their heart and trust into the doctrines of a religion. The people that I don't like are the leaders of the Watchtower. They are dishonest, manipulative and arrogant. Do your research. You have lots to read before you make any serious decision that you are likely to regret later. Baptizing as a JW is a very, very serious decision.

the bible and its prophecies
by Crazyguy ini have been doing a lot of research on the bible and its roots so to speak and its becoming clearer that the jews like other races took gods and stories from others and made them their own.
its also become clear that many of the books were written later then stated, like daniel probably written about a hundred years before christ and some of it maybe even after.
but what i don't get is the prophecies.

Assuming prophecies are real, why would a loving God send messages in such a convoluted manner that lends itself for multiple interpretations. Almighty as he is, he could prepare a clear message in plain whatever language is needed, lay it on visible spots, make it of indestructible, or at least long lasting material. After all, he created the universe, so the task of preparing clear messages for a bunch of egocentric beings in a tiny spot of the universe should be easy enough to do. May be he is not loving, or almighty, or not there altogether, or He is out there but not intervening in our affairs. I like the latter. Under this scheme human affairs and reality make sense.

Welcome.
In my two years as a non JW(before that I was just an average deist/agnostic/atheist/pantheist/) I have learned a lot. Watchtower's publications can certainly be a University education, that is if you dig the material they quote and the material that they overtly fail to quote.
Contrary to everything you are going to hear here, there are some of us who have a debt to the organization because it has pushed us to learn. Let me get started.
I trusted scientists and the theory of evolution but I didn't know why. Now I do.
I believed that religion was myth, but good. Now I am very ambivalent about it, leaning towards "religion is bad in general"
I used to somehow adhere to the belief that homosexuals were not quite equally deserving of some rights. Now I believe they deserve everything heterosexuals get.
I knew nothing about ancient history. Now I know at least some at an elementary level.
I knew nothing about the early chrsitianity. Now I know above elementary level.
I knew almost nothing about the Bible and the formation of the Canon. Now I know enough to give trouble to JW's and poke many, many, many holes at the holy book. (now I understand why they call it the holy book)
I knew nothing about cults. Now I do, especially about JW's
I used to believe that smart people can not easily be brainwashed. Now I have seen it with my own eyes.
I knew nothing about the history of the JW's and their leaders. Now I can give lectures to C.O. and D.O.s
I knew nothing about biblical times chronologies. Now I do, enough to offer $40,000.00 to any JW who can prove the chronology used to arrive at 1914 is well supported by facts and evidence.
Finally. I have learned, thanks to my study of the Watchtower and JW's, that Carl Sagan was spot on when he wrote:
The fact that religions can be so shamelessly dishonest, so contemptuous of the intelligence of their adherents, and still flourish does not speak very well for the tough-mindedness of the believers. But it does indicate, if a demonstration were needed, that near the core of the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry.”
